Airtel is an innovative technology company supporting the improvement of air traffic management for safer, cleaner, more efficient air travel globally.
For over 20 years Airtel has developed Data Link Communication software, infrastructure and test equipment to support the dramatic increase in demand for air travel globally. Controller Pilot Data Link Communication (CPDLC) and Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Contract (ADS-C) are some of the air-traffic management (ATM) applications making use of data link technologies which allow data to flow between Air Traffic Control (ATC) centres and aircraft.
CPDLC supports clear and efficient communication via pre-determined text messages between the pilot and air traffic control. ADS-C delivers improvements in aircraft tracking across all stages of flight allowing for increased planning of flight paths, safe increases in capacity for airports and reduced holding patterns to minimise environmental impact.
Based in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland, Airtel began as a telecommunications company, moving in to Aeronautical Telecommunications in 1993. Today Airtel’s solutions can be found in over 35 countries and enabling over 4,000 aircraft to connect to the ATC network.
Airtel continue to deliver technological excellence within Air Traffic Management (ATM) and is a member of every significant Research and Deployment Program, including COMET and SESAR Joint Undertaking in Europe and NextGen in the U.S.
The Airtel team are proud to be leading improvements in the next generation of ATM solutions including SATCOM, Trajectory-Based Operations and Future Communications Infrastructure.
