Frank O’Connor

Co Founder & CEO

Frank O’Connor co-founded Airtel ATN back in 1998 and subsequently became CEO in 2002. The business was sustained at this difficult time as so many companies in the Air Traffic Control industry with the events on 9/11. From these difficult times he led the business into growth in 2008 with the number of employees doubling in 2010.

With Frank O’Connor’s extensive experience in ATN (over 25 years) having joined Retix as Software Engineering Manager in 1990, he has ensured Airtel ATN has been able to maintain its credibility.

He became involved in the ATN area in Retix in 1993 and in 1994, became responsible for Professional Services for OSI and ATN software development. Prior to Retix, he spent 4 years in CACI where he managed the Dublin office and was responsible for the development of simulation tools.

He started his career in System Dynamics, one of Ireland’s leading IT business solutions companies, where he spent eight years including two in Germany and The Netherlands. Frank has a BSc in Computer Science from University College Dublin.

Santi Ibarz

Research & Development Director

Santi Ibarz is the Research & Development Director at Airtel ATN having joined in 1999 as Senior System Architect. He is the technical lead on many ground ATN Data Link Projects including Selex, Nav Portugal, Harris and INDRA. He is also the lead developer of Airtel ATN’s CPDLC Test Services and Systems.

Prior to Airtel ATN, Santi was a software engineer at Lucent Technologies where he was the R&D Software Engineer for GSM network tools. Before Lucent, he worked as a software engineer in NetManSys which specialises in software that manages devices that transmit voice and data over telecommunications networks.

Santi has a BSc in Computer Science from Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, an MSc from ENSIMAG, Grenoble France and an MSc in Innovation & Technology Management from Dublin Institute of Technology.

Jim Attley

Regional Director
Americas & Asia Pacific

Jim has always worked very closely with the airline industry starting out in the consulting side with Parc Aviation in 1992. He has been associated with Airtel ATN for many years and has almost 25 years aviation experience across senior sales and marketing roles.

He was instrumental in securing the ARINC and Rockwell Collins accounts for Airtel ATN as well as expanding our reach in the Asian market. Previously Jim has held senior positions in the UK and US in Direct Personnel, AMT and WSI.

Jim has qualifications from Universiteit Leiden in the Netherlands (Institute of Aerospace Law), Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland and the Irish Management Institute.
