Frank O'Connor, Co Founder and CEO
Frank O'Connor photoFrank co-founded Airtel ATN in 1998.  When Frank became CEO in 2002 he sustained the business, moving it into growth in 2008 with the number of employees doubling in 2010.  He has almost 20 years experience in ATN having joined Retix as Software Engineering Manager in 1990.  He became involved in the ATN area in Retix in 1993 and in 1994, became responsible for Professional Services for OSI and ATN software development.

Prior to Retix, he spent 4 years in CACI where he managed the Dublin office and was responsable for the development of simulation tools. Frank started out his career in System Dynamics, one of Ireland's leading IT business solutions companies, where he spent eight years including two in Germany and The Netherlands.

Frank has a BSc in Computer Science from University College Dublin.

Norman Stewart, Co Founder and Board Member
Norman is co-founder of Airtel ATN and took the position Managing Director on the formation of the company in 1998.  Norman has been active in the Aerospace industry since the 1980s.  Prior to the founding of Airtel ATN, he worked in National Avionics in Dublin for 3 years where he was involved in ATC Data Link R&D projects.

Norman spent 10 years in the German Space Operations Centre (GSOC) near Munich on the development of satellite ground segment systems. His career also included five years in the UK Meteorological Office commencing in 1979.  This was followed by two years as Programme Manager, Aircraft Ground Support Equipment at Smiths Industries Aerospace and Defence in the UK.

Norman has a BA in Physics from Trinity College Dublin, an MSc in Theoretical Physics from McMaster University, Ontario, Canada and a PhD in Astronomy from Edinburgh University, Scotland.

Hanno Stubbusch, Board Member
Hanno Stubbush photoHanno Stubbusch has more than 20 years of experience in consulting and project management in the aerospace industry. Since 1999 he has been CEO of BuCET AG with clients in companies and governmental organisations in the aviation and traffic management industries.  Customers include EUROCONTROL, Nortel  and some THALES companies.  Prior to BuCET, Hanno was a Consultant involved in development of telecommunication systems and studies for DFS, EUMETSAT and FAA.

Hanno has an MSc in Physics with Astrophysics from the University of Cologne and a Computer Science with Mathematics degree from University of Hagen.

Jim Attley, Sales Director
Jim Attley photoJim is responsible for sales and marketing in Airtel ATN.  He has always worked very closely with the airline industry starting out in the consulting side with Parc Aviation in 1992.  After the closure of the consulting division of Parc Aviation in 1998, Jim joined Airtel ATN as Sales Director.  Jim has almost 20 years aviation experience across senior sales and marketing roles. He was instrumental in securing the ARINC and Rockwell Collins accounts in Airtel ATN.

Prior to re-joining Airtel ATN in 2009, Jim had senior positions in the UK and US in Direct Personnel, AMT and WSI, which provides weather-driven business solutions for the aviation industry.

Jim has qualifications from Universiteit Leiden in the Netherlands (Institute of Aerospace Law), Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland and the Irish Management Institute.

Santi Ibarz, Senior System Architect
Santi Ibarz photoSanti is Senior System Architect at Airtel ATN having joined in 1999. He is the technical lead on many ground ATN Data Link Projects include Selex, Nav Portugal and INDRA.  He is also the lead developer of EUROCONTROL's ATN Test Facilities and Test Tools.  Prior to Airtel ATN, Santi was a software engineer at Lucent Technologies in Wicklow, Ireland where he was the R&D Software Engineer for GSM network tools.  Before Lucent, he worked as a software engineer in NetManSys which specialises in software that manages devices that transmit voice and data over telecommunications networks.

Santi has a BSc in Computer Science from Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, an MSc from ENSIMAG, Grenoble France and an MSc in Innovation & Technology Management from Dublin Institute of Technology.

 

Redmond Sweeny, Engineering Director
Redmond Sweeny photoRedmond joined Airtel ATN in 2010 as Engineering Director responsible for the delivery of solutions to Airtel ATN’s customers in Europe and the US. Before joining Airtel ATN, Redmond spent 16 years in management roles in telecoms companies such as Meteor, Openet and Accuris.

In Meteor, Redmond was responsible for managing the design, development and delivery of new functionality in Meteor's Prepaid Charging and Post Paid Billing Systems. In Openet, he was Professional Services Manager responsible for delivering mediation solutions to customers in Europe, the US and Australia.

Redmond has a degree in Electronic Engineering from University College Cork and an MBA from the Open Business School.
