ATN Air/Ground Network Infrastructure Components
ATN Air/Ground Network Infrastructure consists of several interconnected VDL Mode 2 Air/Ground Networks. These networks are operated by Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) or by Data Link Service Providers (DSP) such as ARINC and SITA. Each VDL Mode 2 Air/Ground Networks consists of:
- A number of VDL Ground Stations (VGS)
- One or more ATN Air/Ground (A/G) ATN Routers
- One or more Ground/Ground (G/G) ATN Routers
Several VGSs are normally connected to each A/G Router. Various VGS and router redundancy schemes are used to improve reliability of the Air/Ground Networks and for maintenance purposes.
